So this Summer I will mostly be pretending I am an African tribes woman, my inspiration comes from these beautiful shots, taken across African by John Kenny. For all the info and the rest of the pictures follow the link to his website.

Lets get merky!
James Corden is fucking brilliant. This is EXACTLY how you should dance to this song.
Gagagogo X ID
I'm loving these pics of Gaga shot by Mariano Vivanco for ID. The whole prosthetic face thing is slightly creepy but I do quite enjoy it. Just wish I could bloody remember who did it first, and no I don't mean Kryten from Red Dwarf, there is def a singer who has done this before.
RIP Elizabeth Taylor
Liz Taylor was one of the last of Hollywood's "Golden Era' actresses. A dual citizen of the UK and American, Liz started her acting career at 9 years old. She featured in many Hollywood classics, but was just as well known for her extravagant personal life- Liz married 7 times (1 husband she married twice), she had a lavish jewelry collection that includes some of the biggest diamonds in the world and a vast array of designer frock, making her a vintage style icon. But Liz didn't just spend, her perfume Diamonds is one of the best selling of all time and her AIDS foundation has raised over $50 million to help fight AIDS around the world. Proving she was a savvy business woman as well as a beauty icon. RIP Ms Taylor.
Angelyne
I was having a lil neb round V Magazine's website and came across the spectacle that is Angelyne, Queen of Billboards (apparently). Back in the 80's she plastered LA with flyers showing her in seductive poses with her phone number, later moving on to billboard adverts. Angelyne wasn't promoting a talent/product/company it was all just shameless self promotion. Promotion that has made her a cult icon. She sounds horrific, but she drives a pink car so I like.
At least now she'll be happy with the thought that she is a walking advert for not having cosmetic surgery. No need for any hefty advertising bills anymore.

Poetic License
I love old adverts that claim to save the world, wash the dishes, keep your man happy and make you beautiful. Like this one-
I know it's not PC and all that but at least they're funny, non? Adverts are so serious these days, especially with all the legal stuff they have to work around to make sure they are not misleading consumer, which I also agree with (contradictory I know). But sometimes I just wish we lived in a world that was more fun, a bit like this-
To be honest I really don't think there is that much difference between these old adverts and the one's we see today. It's all smoke and mirrors, as me Nana would say or Photoshoped too hell, as I would say. It's a bit mad really that company's can get away with altering images so extensively without having to acknowledge it. And what's even worse for me is that they images don't need to be altered to start with. I did a bit of searching to see if I could find some shock photshop pictures but apart from the Madonna/D&G, most pre-photshopped images are fine. So the dilema is whats the point in altering them in the first place or if it's not that much different to the original then why not? What do ya'll think?
